What a beautiful and relaxing week we were so blessed to spend in Jamaica! This is officially my new favorite place to vacation. The resort was absolutely INCREDIBLE and the employees were the sweetest! If you ever want to take a trip I highly recommend Secrets Saint James in Montego Bay. They outweighed every expectation I had for the week and went above and beyond to do anything for us. Not only did we go to Jamaica for a vacation but I also went as a Zumba instructor for the resort. This has most defiantly been the best thing I have EVER experienced in my Zumba teaching career! I could go on and on about how amazing this resort was but I have so much more to tell you about our trip!
Each morning Luke and I were spoiled with a full breakfast buffet with literally everything you can possibly think of on it! You guys, they had everything from an omelet station, to Nutella and even salmon for breakfast! Talk about HEAVEN! After breakfast Luke and I would head to the gym to get in our workout for the day and then I would go form the gym to the pool side where I taught Aqua Zumba. Everyday after Zumba I would hunt down the jerk chicken guy and the coconut man to get my daily fix in. Yes that’s right, they had jerk chicken EVERYDAY and fresh coconut water straight out of a coconut. If I had to chose one thing I miss the most about vacation it would probably have to be the jerk chicken. Lets be honestly, isn’t it every paleo girl’s dream to get done working out and have jerk chicken just handed to you?!
Luke and I would then head to the lunch buffet and indulge some more and then head back to our rooms to get our swimsuits on to layout on the beach for a few hours. Everyday we were there was beautiful! It sprinkled twice the whole week so we were fortunate enough to spend lots of time on the beach, however you would never be able to tell by the lack of tan I got. It’s actually quit historical seeing my husband who literally looks like a sun kissed babe next to this glowing chick! Oh well, who needs a tan anyways?
Each evening we had fun dressing up and going out for a fancy dinner. I must say though, having to do your hair and makeup every day is just down right exhausting! It was still a lot of fun tho! The resort had 7 different restaurants for us to choose from. Every restaurant was PHENOMENAL! My absolutely favorite meal I had all week was the mahi mahi fish and veggies. If you know anything about me you know that I do not like seafood but recently have started to become a fan of it. I figured since it was all you can eat in Jamaica I had better take advantage of it and try new foods. I am so glad I did! Now if we only had fresh fish here in Indiana I would eat it everyday!
After dinner each night we would sit down at the bar (last picture on the blog post) and listen to live music and enjoy a few drinks. One of the greatest highlights of the week was meeting our new and sweet friends Michelle and Angel! Even though we didn’t get to spend much time with them, the time we did have will always be one of the greatest memories we will have about Jamaica. Oh and a huge thank you to Angel for teaching Luke some new dance moves! I know he will forever thank of you when he breaks them out on the dance floor (lol). Once the music had ended we headed back to our room to of course order some chips and queso! We had 24 hour room service and gosh darn it we were going to take advantage of it. We literally ate chips and queso every night. Nope, I am not ashamed of it at all!
The resort was so kind to give me the last day off from teaching so Luke and I decided to venture out of the resort to go swimming with the dolphins! You guys, this was one of the most incredible things I have EVER done! I may have been a bit scared at first to get in the water considering I had no idea dolphins were as big as they are. Guys, I am scared of little fish and to ask me to get in the ocean with fish that are 9ft in length and weigh 400-550lbs is asking a bit much for this girl but I did it and I am so happy I did! Did you know that dolphins have an IQ of a 10 year old and they also require human interaction daily? These mammals are incredible and are so talented and smart! I went from being scared of getting in the water to kissing one on the mouth and even riding one! I also wanted to take one home with me but I don’t think it would survive in Indiana. Bummer. After we swam with the dolphins I was forced to hold a sting ray (was not a fan as you can see in the images) and then Luke was the brave one who ended up holding the shark! Yes a shark! I can promise you that I was not about to get in the water with a shark. I had pushed myself past my comfort zone enough that day (lol).
All said and done I had the best week of my life with my husband. We have been together now for 9 years and this was our first real vacation we took just the two of us. If you are married and haven’t been on a trip just you and your spouse you need to get on the computer and book one NOW! Luke and I had the best week we have ever had with one another! I will forever be grateful that God gave me this week with the most amazing man in the world and I cannot wait to do it again next year! <3 <3 <3
Until next time, Jamaica.
